This week's busy slate of mixed martial arts events doesn't stop with just the WEC 52 and UFC 122 fight cards.
"Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of Mixed Martial Arts" returns to the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday, Nov. 12. The promotion kicks-off an eight-woman 145-pound tournament that features two-time Olympian Ronda Rousey and undefeated prospect Taylor Stratford, and the night's 14-bout card broadcasts in its entirety on GoFightLive.tv.
MMAjunkie.com lead staff reporter John Morgan and "MMA:30" host and X107.5 FM radio personality Dave Farra have once again been hired to call the action.
Tuff-N-Uff's Nov. 12 event – scheduled on the 17th anniversary of the UFC's historic debut event – features the first round of the promotion's 145-pound eight-woman tournament. Widely recognized as one of the sport's premier amateur fighting organizations, Tuff-N-Uff's tournaments continue to attract top talent from across the nation.
Rousey, a silver medalist in judo at the 2008 Beijing Games is considered among the brightest female prospects in the nation. She takes on gritty Team Quest product Autumn Richardson, whose only loss came via doctor's orders. Richardson wanted desperately to continue despite having her nose broken during the first flurry of the fight.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Stratford takes on striking specialist Shauna Dugger, a Team Quest product who makes her amateur debut.
The remaining two first-round bouts will be contested in December. The winners of the first-round bouts return on Jan. 7, 2011, for the tourney semifinals while the championship round will be conducted on Feb. 11.
In addition to the evening's tournament contests, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world's top academies, including Greg Jackson's Mixed Martial Arts, Striking Unlimited, TapouT Las Vegas, Team Fasi/Drysdale, Team Suffer/Vadnais, Wand Fight Team and Xtreme Couture also compete at the event.
Tuff-N-Uff has seen the likes of Shonie Carter, Jon Fitch and Aaron Riley compete under its banner, and recent entrants include the famed bloodlines of the Couture and Mir families.
Tickets for Tuff-N-Uff's July 2 event, which start at just $25, are available at the Orleans Hotel & Casino's box office or online at OrleansCasino.com and TuffNUff.net. The pay-per-view stream, which runs just $9.99, can be purchased at GoFightLive.tv.
